J.J., I was under the impression that it was most common to get an editor through your agent...How "on par" is it to get an editor first? Where do you find legit editors to "propose" to?
Thank you so much for this! I’ve enjoyed your generosity and perspectives on The Ship! Never getting off this boat! I mentioned selling on proposal to my agent once and she giggled. 😂 I think it’s because I write about as fast as a slow turtle. lol But I’m definitely going to use this method to present ideas to my agent! And so much of RWNADTTGB lives rent-free in my head. What a gem of a novel.
"I write about as fast as a slow turtle" made me LAUGH! And I think you're so right that synopses can totally serve wonderful lives outside of proposals too, whether for our own writing or pitching to agents or tweaking ideas until they feel just right. And YOU are the gem! The boat (and me and the whole freaking world) are lucky to have you and your books in it!

Thank you for reading the Ventorship! And your impression is correct! This proposal was sent to my editor through my agent.
